You Can Be One of the First People in the World to Own a Google Glass

Google is finally revealing more details about Project Glass, its augmented reality glasses/wearable computing device, including showing us what the UI will look like for the first time. There are also plenty of new photos of the device in action.


It certainly looks like Glass is coming along, but a PR video and photos don't tell much about how the device works in practice.

Luckily, it won't be long until some people will be able to own a pair of Google Glass, all you have to do is explain why you'd want one.

Only a few dozen people have gotten their hands on Google Glass, the developers who attended the Glass Foundry events earlier this year.

But now, Google is holding a contest of sorts, if you can come up with a great pitch on what you'd do with Glass and then tweet about it or post it on Google+, you may be one of the first people in the world outside Google to get to use the device.

"We’re looking for bold, creative individuals who want to join us and be a part of shaping the future of Glass. Glass is still in the early stages, so we expect there will be some twists and turns along the way," Google explained.

All you have to do is include the #ifihadglass hashtag and don't go over 50 words. You can add a few photos or a short video to help you make your case.

If Google likes your idea, it may even allow you to buy a Glass Explorer Edition, for $1500 plus tax, the same device developers were able to preorder at Google I/O last year.

It's still unclear when the first devices lands, but it's starting to look like it won't be long. The Explorer Edition will probably be available in the next few months, ahead of Google I/O or during Google I/O at the latest.
