The Best-Selling Windows Device in the World Is a Phone
Microsoft's
internal meeting with employees a couple of days ago brought us some
pretty interesting stats regarding sales of the company's Windows
device.Nokia Lumia 520, the $99 (€73) phone that's said to be one of the most popular Windows Phone handsets right now, is currently the best-selling Windows product in the world, beating all the other PCs and tablets that are on the market at this moment.
While this pretty much makes sense given the fact that it's quite an affordable device, it's a bit awkward following the huge investments that Microsoft made to turn Surface and Windows 8 into successful products.
Back in October 2012, it emerged that Microsoft granted a $1.5 billion (€1.2 billion) budget to advertise Surface and Windows 8, so it appears that the company has once again wasted lots of money on basically nothing.
Redmond, on the other hand, is fully prepared to continue investments in Windows Phone, so this might after all be a sign that the company is on the right path in the mobile market.
