No More BlackBerry 7 OS Smartphones After BlackBerry 9720

No More BlackBerry 7 OS Smartphones After BlackBerry 9720

BlackBerry 9720
Canadian mobile phone maker BlackBerry has no plans on launching new BlackBerry 7 OS smartphones following the release of BlackBerry 9720.
According to a recent post on N4BB, Alec Saunders, BlackBerry VP of Developer Relations, has officially confirmed this in a recent interview.
Apparently, BlackBerry has finally decided it is through with legacy devices, and will launch only smartphones powered by the new BlackBerry 10 OS (and future iterations).

Of course, there is still a great deal of applications being built for the older platform, which suggests that legacy devices will enjoy support for several years more.
To tell the truth, I had the chance to see both BlackBerry 7 and BlackBerry 10 in action, and I find the latter much more appealing and user-friendly. Which also makes me wonder why the handset vendor decided to launch BlackBerry 9720 in the first place.
