Google Search Experiments with Giant Video Results
Google may be done experimenting with the app launcher redesign, which replaces the top black navbar we've gotten used to, but that doesn't mean it has stopped testing new features and changes altogether.
One experiment spotted in the wild presents a huge video box ahead of the regular results, but only for music videos for now, it seems.
Some users are noticing that, for certain searches, the top video result occupies a lot more space than usual. A huge thumbnail, the video cover, 480 by 360 pixels, takes up a lot of room and the text details are given generous space as well, as Google Operating System notes.
It's unclear what Google is trying to achieve with this experiment and why it feels the need to highlight the video results so much, but it's clear someone at Google thought it was a good idea.
