Chrome OS Gets an Exposé-Like App Switcher, More Dock Tweaks

The latest dev channel Chrome OS update may not look like much on paper, in fact, Google isn't saying anything about the latest release except that it's got a known issue. But that's not to say the update is completely uneventful.

The latest Chrome 31.0.1626.3, part of Chrome OS 4670.0.0, comes with several visual tweaks, according to omg chrome. Google has been working on a few improvements to the basic desktop UI and making them the default in the latest dev update.

Among the new features is an Overview Mode which makes it easier to switch between several open windows. With the new emphasis on stand-alone apps, the ability to quickly switch between windows is crucial even if Chrome OS has traditionally put less importance on individual windows.

Another tweak is the position of the app launcher, which now sits at the left corner of the dock bar, like the Windows start button would, if Windows still had a start button.
