Run Windows 8 Apps in Their Own Resizable Interface

Stardock released a brand-new Windows 8 utility called ModernMix that allows modern UI apps to run in their own window, available in the classic Desktop environment.

Basically, what ModernMix does is to make the apps behave as if they were regular desktop apps, “minimize,” “maximize” and “close” buttons included. Thus, you can multitask or pin them to the taskbar.

The default state imposed by Microsoft is that they run in full screen mode, which, in some cases, is extremely unpleasant, especially on very large screens.

ModernMix is currently in beta stage of development and can be used for a 30-day trial period. The price tag for the full version of the application is $4.99 (3.84 EUR). Check out the video above and the images in the gallery below to better understand how it works.
