Chinese vendor Lenovo appears set to
expand its presence on the Android segment of the market further, and
the IdeaTab A1000 and A3000 7-inch tablet PCs that it has made official
at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona should help.
The Lenovo A1000 should land on shelves as the cheaper of the two, with
a dual-core 1.2GHz processor packed inside, 16GB of internal memory,
and a microSD memory card slot to expand it further.
At the same time, the device
sports front-facing speakers with Dolby Digital Plus sound, which
should prove a great option for those who want to listen to music or
view content while on the go.
The tablet PC was announced with
Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top and
should arrive on shelves in black and white flavors.
The
7-inch A3000, on the other hand, sports a 1.2GHz quad-core MTK
processor, while capable of delivering a 1024 x 600 pixels resolution.
The tablet PC was announced with support for 64GB of total memory with
microSD additions (which suggests that it might sport 32GB right from
the start), Wi-Fi connectivity, optional 3G HSPA+ support, and Android
4.1 Jelly Bean loaded on top.
Furthermore, Lenovo
notes that the new slate will be able to provide users with the great
experience they would like to receive from such a device when it comes
to watching videos, photo-sharing or web-browsing.
“Lenovo’s
latest Android tablet family is designed to meet the demands of a wide
range of customers, particularly young, active users who are always on
the go, and have adopted the seven-inch form factor as their own,” Chen
Wenhui, vice president Lenovo and GM Mobile BU, said.
Both
tablet PCs are expected to land on shelves in the second quarter of the
year, but no specific info on the price tags they will feature has been
provided as of now.
