CeBIT 2013: ASUS Transformer AiO, Both All-in-One PC and Android Tablet – Video

When saying the word “convertible,” all-in-one PCs might not be the first thing to pop into someone’s' mind, but ASUS wants to make sure people at least start considering the notion.


The company took advantage of the chance provided by CeBIT 2013 and revealed the Transformer AiO, a convertible all-in-one PC.

We aren't just looking at an all-in-one that can lay flat like a tablet. Panasonic has one of those, and while we would not have minded seeing 4K support here as well, we will have to make do.

Instead, ASUS turned the Transformer AiO into something that most accurately qualifies as two PCs in one.

On the one hand, we have the desktop mode, when the system uses a Core i3, i5 or i7 central processing units, along with a 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT730M GPU.

4 or 8 GB of RAM (random access memory) back up the pair, while a SATA HDD provides 2 TB of storage space.

That said, the display is 1n 18.4-inch IPS LCD with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 10-point multitouch.

As for the rest, the PC has a DVD-writer, various ports and plugs, a TV Tuner and a card reader.
  

 All in all, everything that defines an all-in-one PC is present and accounted for, so that begs the question of why this is a convertible AiO.

Apparently, the Windows 8-loaded PC is just one configuration. When removing the screen from the dock, we are left with a huge tablet that uses an NVIDIA Tegra 3 tablet, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of NAND Flash storage space and the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

It can even behave like a terminal for the “PC Station” according to the company. It all seems a bit mindboggling but, fortunately, ASUS has published a video that explains everything.

Sales will begin for $1,299 / €1,299 in the second quarter of the year (2013). The full name of the system is Transformer AiO P1801.
